FTE CRIF Event

The Functional Tissue Engineering Program held a Cross-disciplinary Research Initiative Funding (CRIF) meeting on February 12, 2020 at 5:30 PM in College of Veterinary Medicine Research Building RB 101.

The intent of the CRIF program was to stimulate new cross-disciplinary ideas with significant potential to strengthen and expand NC State’s expertise and leadership in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.  The meeting agenda included:
  • Learn – FTE leaders elaborated on the CRIF criteria, expectations, and funding logistics. Then each attendee could make a three minute pitch about their research expertise and topics of interest relevant to FTE’s priority areas.
  • Interact – A 45 minute session for attendees to interact and brainstorm new ideas.
  • Pitch – Teams made five minute project pitches. The audience provided feedback and opportunities to strengthen the ideas.
A two page written proposal was due on February 19, 2020. Attendance and providing a pitch at the meeting was not a precondition for submitting the written proposal. Funding decisions were made based on peer-review of the written proposals, and two projects ($7,500 each) were supported in Spring 2020 in FTE’s five priority areas.
